Bills creating ambivalence

by Steve

Isn't watching football and rooting for your favorite team suppose to be fun? I don't remember the last time that was the case while watching the Buffalo Bills. It is like going into work Monday after a weekend bender. It is dreaded, it sucks, you contemplate careening your car off a bridge. This franchise is a god damn travesty.

After a Bills loss the whole week and especially the next day used to be awful. Food wouldn't be as good, work would be more boring, the dumb little conversations we're all forced to partake in were even more idiotic. But lately and especially this season there is a feeling of total ambivalence to the whole thing.

We are so used to L's, no hope, complete dysfunction and embarrassment we as fans seem to care less than we used to. Maybe it is just me but I didn't even get all that excited in the morning to watch games. I'm more pumped for Mad Men and eventually going 0-5 on wagers. I knew there was zero chance we would win today, that our quarterback would be as awful as ever and that even if it was close at half we would find a way to get blown out. And of course that is exactly what happened.

Turning on the post game show on WGR after the game some how made things even worse. All they were talking about was how the Bills will never be good again and that Buffalo isn't a National Football League city any more. They said we're basically just waiting for Ralph to die and the team to leave. WTF??!? Thanks for the pick me up Schopp and the dog. Christ.

The sad truth is that might be the truth, FML. At the very least things probably will get worse before they get better and apparently might not ever get better.

Fuck it, 14 and 2 babyyyy!!!!! Bring in B squared Brian Brohm it aint ova.

  1. Edwards just can't play. Chan Gailey looks to be Jauron part deux. Marshawn ran the ball well. Still why did you draft Spiller? To return kicks? The offensive line seemed to start getting a push in the 2nd. Does Edwards know that if you throw the ball that a defensive lineman can't hit you?

The Bills seem to have this arrogance as an organization where they're the smartest team in the room. Prior to Gailey being hired most fans given the choice of Schottenheimer/Billick/Gailey would always choose Marty Billick. The Bills choose Gailey. Honestly what wideouts on the roster would even be on a teams aside from Roscoe and Evans? Clay Matthews has 6 sacks through two games. Aaron Maybin will be lucky to have 6 sacks for his career. The Ralph will be holding about 20000 fans disguised as empty seats for at least a few of the remaining games. On the bright side the Jags do that on average.

  2. Time to wreck it on this blog...

Janis remember when I made my prediciton and you said I was lost? Sure I was off by two scores but it was still a blowout, and Edwards threw for two more yards than my prediction. I don't even live in Buffalo and I haven't been to a game since 2006 and I still know more about this team than you.

Now to the podcast. How did you guys get tricked into thinking this offense was good? You guys need to check yourselves. Spiller wasn't drafted to address to offense; he was drafted to address a lack of interest in this team. Great player on an awful team. We should have drafted quarterback first round, and then offensive lineman. Mallet looked good this weekend leading Arkansas to a win over Georgia. But we'll end up drafting a kicker with the #1 overall pick, sign him to the greatest rookie contract in NFL history, and then go straight into the lockout.

I'm done with Treezy Edwards and I'm done with Gomer Gailey. This team is regressing. We beat the Dolphins last year 38-10 and then lose 15-10? I'd take Perry Fewell back in a heartbeat. At least the team looked like it played with enthusiasm towards the end of last season. Anonymous I would have taken Schottenheimer 11 times out of 10. I would take a coach that would lead our team to the playoffs - regardless of whether or not we could win - all day. It's been ten years, come on.

The only good thing about our offense is the fact we have three decent runningbacks. New York [Giants] had two 1000-yard rushers in 2008, Carolina in 2009. I say keep 'em all and see if Spiller and Lynch each rush for 1000 yards, Freddy J returns kicks.

Fitz starts Sunday, I'm betting my life's savings on the Patriots to cover. I guarantee a blowout a la November 18, 2007. New England's pissed after losing to New York. They're going to destroy us.

I thought 4-12 was a fair prediction for the season. Edwards hasn't even thrown for 300 yards this season. Schaub threw for 497 in one game. I'm struggling to find a game Buffalo can actually win. 0-16, this team is a joke. If you want the podcast to blow up, put Wreck back on it asap

  3. The Bills are who we thought they were

  4. The Bills as an organization need a Jim Mora press conference to show fans they at least have a pulse.
