In the wake of being suspended without pay for the opening three games of the regular season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Buffalo Billsrunning back Marshawn Lynch has formally appealed the punishment, according to the Associated Press.
Of course, any discipline appeals involving violations of the league’s personal conduct policy are considered extremely tough to win considering that Goodell is the ultimate arbiter of said appeals.
The violation Lynch was punished for stems from a guilty plea for a misdemeanor gun charge in Southern California.
A year ago, Lynch managed to escape league discipline following a hit-and-run incident in Buffalo’s bar district.
This time, Lynch acknowledged that he expected to be punished by Goodell.
The timing of Lynch’s appeal is somewhat ironic. It was formally filed one day after Bills running back Fred Jackson
signed his contract extension, but it’s unclear if the timing is a mere coincidence. Jackson is expected to start in place of Lynch when/if he serves his suspension.

Lynch appealing suspension
Doubt he'll win it, but if he could knock off at least one game that would be solid.
