Chan Gailey Fired

By Steve

Chanwick, time to dieeeeee. The Bills announced ( finally?) that they fired loser Gailey.
No credit for doing the obvious thing or the correct thing.  Why was this p.o.s. hired in the first place?

He was a loser a retread and no one wanted him. Being employed another minute would have been a joke. True the Bills are a laughing stock either way and his replacement will probably be as big of a loser and retread that no one else wants but at least it wont be chanwick.

Russ Brandon Needs to Wake Up

by Steve

No one gives a shit about the Jets @ Bills game this Sunday (except maybe the line which is Bills -3.5 which is ludicrous) so I'm not going to talk about the game.  I'm going to talk about the alleged CEO of the Buffalo Bills (at least according to their own website) Russ Brandon.

Presumably, the CEO of an organization has the power to hire and fire right? So, presumably, Brandon is the guy that would be firing the general manager and tell his general manager to fire the head coach right?  Well then Russ should have a very awkward and busy Monday morning down at OBD because heads need to roll.

In what world does posting records of 4-12, 6-10 and (god willing) 5-11 represent growth and development?  Even if it is 6-10 the record will not improve from a year ago.  The coach is inept, the general manager can not evaluate talent, specifically the quarterback position and the team is a losing pathetic mess.

In what world did Buddy Nix and Chanwhick Gailey think it was a good idea to go into a season with Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitz-noodle-arm Fitzpatrick as their quarterbacks.  Not for one year, but for three freaking seasons!!! WTF?

Worst case scenario, at least in my mind because I know it can actually be worse, is that Nix is retained and Chanwhick is fired.  Alright, fine, bringing them both back and just cutting Fitz-noodle-arm (costing $10 mil in cap space but no actual money) would be worst case but unacceptable.  There is absolutely no reason to bring back the head coach of this football team. Saving $2 mil or so?  Continuity? A solid fan base that will come back no matter what?  Those aren't good reasons for Chanwhicks retention.

I don't want to hear anything about Ralph Wilson being 94 or the money manager Jeff Littman or anyone else in Detroit.  Russ Brandon is the chief executive officer.  He needs to wake the fuck up and realize the absolute train wreck that is the franchise he is executive of and fire these clowns or at the very least fire Gailey.

Yes, it might be lip stick on a pig, sorta, if Nix is retained for another 6 months of transition while Doug Whaley takes over the job because it would not be a full house cleaning but so be it.  Let Nix concentrate on the draft and free agency, Whaley hire a new head coach and try to get this thing moving in a direction other than circling the drain.

FWIW I'm not holding my breath, fml.

Bills announce 7 year lease agreement

By Steve

Gov Cuomo thanked Ralph Wilson and Roger Goodell. $130 mil renovations. Of course wgr550 had technical difficulties.

"Yesterday is over this is about tomorrow" -andrew cuomo

"This is another shining example of Ralph Wilson's loyalty to wny" -Russ Brandon

Poloncarsz said decade cuomo said 7 years. It is a more financially viable agreement being only $95 mil of public funds as opposed to the $200 the buffalo "news" has been reporting for months.

First question mentioned LA. JEEZ. "We are going to be here for the next few decades" - brandon

Woww bold bold fuckin quote from russ brandon

"We are going to look at the potential for a new stadium over the next decade"

$28 mil fee for years 8 9 10.

In those years the money can be put towards a future new stadium.  This is sounding really good in regards to staying.

"The team will not leave regardless for 7 years"

This new lease is sounding more and more about a new stadium in the future.

13 and counting for the Bills

By Steve

Is there any chance that 50-17 drubbing by the Seahawks over the Bills in Ontario CAN turn out to be a good thing?

Doubt it. Even with, yet again, another embarrassing L against a decent but not great team I can not say Gailey is going to get fired.

That is how pathetic this franchise is.  Thirteen straight seasons sans playoffs, a 15-31 record for the coach, complete ineptitude at every spot and this franchise still hasn't fired their head coach?

What are they waiting for? Chan Gailey will be back next year! Well, unless former GM and current PR lacky Russ Brandon steps in and says fire him for ticket sales sake.

There is no doubt, the Bills are not a real franchise in the NFL. Especially not with Bud Nix and Chanwick both still employed. The only "rational" explanation for keeping Chanwick is what, continuity? 15-31?!?!?!

But hey Gailey did have a no comment about the lame fake punt late in the game.

2013 Draft Eligible QBs Bowl Games

by Steve
Tough title but here are the quarterbacks that I have been documenting all year at the hashtag #myboyslist and their bowl games (which start Saturday!!)

Keith Price, Junior, Washington
Yeah, he is short (6'1 202) and only a junior AND he is black with a white name but he is worth watching.  He hasn't gotten the hype of a Jake Locker (maybe 'cause he is 2 inches shorter), but he had a disappointing season throwing 15 less touchdowns (18 and 11 picks).  Him and the huskies (+5) play 12/22 v Boise St in the MAACO Bowl

Nick Florence, Senior, Baylor
He only got one year as RGIIIs replacement and put up some gaudy numbers in a conference severely lacking in defense. At 6'1 205 and only one season under his belt I hope he got his degree. Thursday 12/27 v UCLA oddly in a pick 'em.

Tyler Tettleton, Junior, Ohio
MAC!  Lowered his interceptions 66% but his touchdown passes came down as well.  ESPN doesn't even list his height (6'0 200) and won't be in the draft this year any way.  12/28 v LA Monroe getting 7 points. AdvoCare V100 INDEPENDENCE BOWL!!

Logan Thomas, Junior , Va Tech
It would be shocking if Thomas his 6'6 frame and lousy season enters the draft this year.  He had 17 tds and 14 picks to go along with four L's in the awful ACC.
Tech plays 12/28 v Rutgers and is -2.5 in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

Geno Smith, Senior, WVU
Saturday 12/29 mark your calendars.  The ol' Big East rivals WVU and 'cuse square off in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.  Can Smith, my leader in the club house play in the cold (Yankee stadium) against a meh 'cuse team?  He lost against the good teams this year but who cares, their defense was awful.  He has size, the arm and a little mobility but is from Miami FL.  Take them -4 at least.  Oh 40 tds to 6 picks too.  (some one named Ryan Nassib is playing too but this is not an oversight by me #donotwant)

Seth Doege, Senior, Texas Tech
Again, gaudy numbers in a defense challenged conference with an asshole coach. 6'1 197? Ouch.  He improved on a decent junior year statistically but the guy did not impress enough to consider even above someone like Nassib. 12/28 -12.5 v Minnesota doesn't help, Minny sucks.

Mike Glennon, Senior, NC State
DO I REALLY HAVE TO WORK NEW YEARS EVE?  This game is at freaking noon, god damn it.  Dude is blowing up mostly because of his size (6'6), his competition in regards to the draft, and a solid stat line.  He does get to play against a 5-3 SEC team, can you guess who?  Vandy and is +7.  Glennon I may want in the second round.
Damn Trevone Boykin is only a freshman? Nevermind...

Matt Barkley, Senior, USC
Ever hear of him?  Unfortunately they have to play freaking GA Tech on New Years eve and even the players don't want to play.  Barkley may be drafted early in the first round but there is zero doubt his stock fell this year.  The team as a whole was a major let down and Kiffin is partly to blame.  The game starts at 2pm and the Trojans are -10.

Tajh Boyd, Junior, Clemson
Plays in the ACC which sucks and he is small 6'1 225.  He puts up points (43 total touchdowns, 34 passing) and completed 66% of his passes.  Fantastic test against a good LSU defense at 7:30 on NYE.  If he has a great game I'd think he would jump early. Some how only +4 v the Tigers.

Aaron Murray, Junior, Georgia
6'1 210 and is likely to stick around another year.  Decent game on New Years Day v Nebraska.  They arguably should be in the Natty game but oh well.  I have waffled on this dude all season and don't like or hate him.  He put up 31 TD passes in a tough SEC (as oppose to Taylor Martinez for the Cornhuskers who is more of a run first guy but still scored a total of 31 TDs. Georgia is -10.

EJ Manuel, Senior, FSU
6'5 240 dude with an awful mustache.  Threw 22 TDs (4 more than last year) and completed 67% of his passes but lost to Mike Glennon.  He doesn't do anything particularly well even in a bad ACC.  Still, got to a BCS  game albeit v Northern Illinois (-13.5) on New Years Day.

Landry Jones, Senior, Oklahoma
The guy has seemingly been around for a while.  Prototypical size 6'4 218 (although seems smaller) and has started for four years.  Statistically very consistent it what was an up and down season for the Sooners.  Their biggest game of the season was an embarrassment v ND at home against a good defense.  Not in a BCS game but it is a post NYE game against an SEC team Texas A&M 1/4/13. +4.5

Collin Klein, Senior, Kansas St
6'5 226 run first religious zealot.  Had a bad L v Baylor and is a white Tim Tebow.  He ran for more touchdowns than he threw and has little future as a QB in the NFL. K State plays Oregon 1/3 in the Fiesta Bowl. +9 o/u 76.5

AJ McCarron, Junior, Alabama
6'4 210 not likely to leave buttt if Saban bolts yet again for the NFL (Cleveland?) who knows?  He hasn't shown a ton but then again he hasn't had to.  Their running game is stout and the defense is top 10.  He completes 67% of his passes and only 26 TDs 3 picks albeit the most completions he's had in a game this season is only 22.  Obviously they're playing against ND and they're good defense in the Natty 1/7 so "AJ" has a chance to show something. Bama is a surprising 10 point favorite.

(Tyler Wilson is hopefully getting ready for the senior bowl thanks to fuckin ass hole Petrino)

Teddy Bridgewater is a sophomore from L'ville (just for pat)

Rams 15 Bills 12 F of course

by Steve

What else can I say that hasn't already been said before?  I mean really?  The only surprise is if the Bills didn't lose on a last minute touchdown and Fitz-noodle-arm-Fitzpatrick interception.

Of course Chain Gailey bungled and bumbled the game so badly the team basically had no chance to win.  Yes of course Cliff Spiller only had 8 touches.  Yes everyone predicted the defense would collapse and drop several game winning interceptions.  Of course the other teams the Bills were chasing in the playoffs all lost.

Of course Chanwick and Fitzucktrick will be back next year.  Of course we have no hope and nothing to look forward too.  Of course the Bills won't lose out and possibly get the 4th overall pick.  Of course the Bills won't draft a quarterback to start from day one in 2013.

Of course we'll still buy tickets and blindly follow this team until Ralph dies and the team moves.  Of course the Bills will never make the playoffs ever again.

Here we go again.

Bills 34 Jaguars 18 F

By Steve

We still have two more of these to go too? FML. What a useless meaningless game. I dont recall more rain falling on me in one day than what hit me yesterday.

If I thought Gailey or anyone else was auditioning for their job next year I'd be even more depressed. But unfortunately I think both clowns, FitzGailey, will be back next year either way. So in fact these games are more useless than normal the last 12 years.

Yeah, we'll draft a qb next year but do you think these conservative dimwits who refuse to even give Tarvaris a look will trust a rookie QB to start and actually run Chanwicks offense? I think not.

Am I saying we are in a downward spiral of helplessness and no hope? Yes I am. And no that is no hyperbole. Our only hope is a new owner and you know exactly what that means.

On the positive side the Bills didnt lose to Mularchuck, Mario Williams might not be a total bust and CJ Spiller is still a beast.

Ugh

UB 39 temple 54 F

By steve

Is Reg Witherspoon serious? 39 points? 3 free throw attempts TOTAL? Javon McCray catching the ball 25 feet from the tin?

What I watched last night from my comped courtside seats was not basketball but I have no god damn clue what it was.

What the hell is worse with UB Bulls athletics right now, 'spoon's 14 year failed tenure or Jeff Quinn getting a contract EXTENSION??!?

Yeah the hoops team lost their best player and it will take time to gel but they looked pathetic.  Two points in the first 9 minutes? Temple didnt even play well and they crushed these guys.

If McCray doesn't touch the ball in the paint just about every time it is a failure.  He is now a junior and he has seemingly regressed.  Reg hasnt been able to recruit one decent guard that isnt scared to drive the lane?

Last thing, Will Regan, the Virginia drop oit sucks. He looked weak timid and devoid of confidence. What happen to his former back to back TBN player of the year?

Get your shit together Danny White.

Bills 13 Colts 20 F

by steve

Classic Bills loss. The saddest part about yet another choke job L against an inferior team on the road is that this was considered a "big game".  What if the Bills had to beat an actually good team.  A playoff team? A team with a real head coah? A team with a decent defense?

God help us all.  The coach is officially worse than Jauron.  The QB couldn't complete a pass down field if it meant saving his familea life and they'll both be back next year!

Yet again I must ask, can things possibly get worse?

After the game I said two things I never thought I would. "i dont want to get season tickeys next season. And i sort of hope the team leaves this isn't worth it".

What other insight or interesting tidbit need I provide? This am Gailey said it was fred's turnto go in in that fourth quarter drive. KILL ME

Read this a few times and tell me if it makes any sense?
“The pass rush had a lot to do with that,” Gailey said, referring to Colts edge rushers Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis. “They were doing a good job with their pass rush and we ended up trying to throw the ball a little bit more on first down and second down.

“But then you go back, C.J. is running the ball extremely well,” Gailey said. “So do you want to throw it to stay away from those obvious passing situations, where they got the pass rush coming? Do you want to throw it and not hand the ball to C.J.? So we were trying to strike a balance in those two thought processes.”

New England Patriots 37 Bills 31 F

by Steve

I almost forgot what it felt like to be thoroughly dissapointed after an L and didn't think I cared about this season any more.  But on that last drive I actually had hope and thought the Bills some would actually win.

We've seen Ryan Fitzpatrick and co do it to this team before.  Why didn't the Bills give it to CJ Spiller more? Even on that last drive?  The injury to Donald Jones hurt.  Fred fuckin Jackson did his best to allow the team to lose. Two lost time outs on that last drive fucking hurt too.

Brandon Spikes has elevated himself to piece of shit status.  I hate that guy.  Mario Williams did next to nil.   Fitzpatrick played really well.  That is pretty tough for me to say.  I haven't even referred to him as his nickname yet.  Yeah, he threw the INT to end the game but I might might blame that on a rookie WR playing a position he shouldn't have been, at least not nine games into his career.

Overall this game is a perfect summation of the entire tenure of Chanwick Gailey with the Buffalo Bills.  Just enough to not win.  The penalties were a disaster.  The refs were a fuckin joke, honestly a joke.  I'm not blame the ref guy, but c'mon some of those pass interference calls were awful.  Even the announcers called out the refs.

Bottom line, the Bills should have won and didn't.  On a day when Spiller was unstoppable, Fitzpatrick played extremely well and Tom Brady couldn't score a TD in the fourth quarter, the Bills still lose.  I guess it is good to know I still care and can trick my self into hope still..or not

Buffalo Bills @ New England Patriots preview

by Steve

Obviously there is zero point in breaking down the x's and o's of this game.  The only debate is whether the Bills will lose by 11-20 points or 21+ points.  We all know how the Bills play against the Patriots especially in the second game of the season, so I'll spare you the stats.

So what's the point?  If the Bills lose by 21+ points what is the point of giving anyone on this coaching staff a chance next year.  This is the freaking National Football League bad teams win good teams lose, no one consistently is awful. Well, except for the Buffalo Bills that is.

Chain Gailey is a loser, the quarterback is clearly not a starter, the defense some how regressed from an abysmal 2011 season.  What the fuck happened?  I don't buy excuses like 5 first or second year starters on defense or a switch from the 3-4 to 4-3.  It is clearly a lack of coaching ability from the top down.  It is clearly a lack of player scouting and evaluation of talent.

How could Buddy Nix honestly think that Ryan Fitzpatrick was a quarterback that can win consistently?  How about Marcell Darius?  Where has the guy been all season?  He is the worst player drafted in the top ten of the 2011 draft.  The guy can not defend the run and as a defensive tackle what else is he even supposed to do on the field?  I have major questions about Stephon Gilmore too.

Is there a bottom to this tailspin? It always seems like it can't get worse but it some how does.  Now we're going to be forced to stomach another season with Chanwhick as the coach and the distinct possibility of Ryan Fitzpatrick back as the QB. (The Bills will finish 6-10 and not be able to get Barkley and will reach for another JP Losman esque QB)  Yes, that is right, it is going to get even worse.

Why is Chan Gailey still employed?

by Steve

Granted, if a mediocrity of a president can get reelected because he runs against a baffoon, a racist electorate and a record of accomplishing very little, I guess anything is possible.  But why is Chanwhick Gailey still employed?  I guess it will be more appropriate to ask this question September 2013 when we have zero hope/faith and at least another full season with ol' Chanwhick but I'm asking today.

Offensive genius?  How can anyone with a straight face refer to Chanwhick as a genius of anything let alone an offense in the National Football League?  Afraid to run the ball because (gasp) there is a base defense on the field!!?  A running back who is breaking YPC records dating back to the 60s and only gets 11 total touches and 6 total carries?

A coach that watches Trent Edwards, determines he is the quarterback he is going to latch his sinking ship to only to cut him after 2 games?  The same coach that has seen Ryan Fitz-noodle-arm-Fitzpatrick for 2.5 years and still believes he can win with him?  This is a quarterback that appears to be stroking out on every single pass and can not throw the ball more than 25 yards down field EVER even just to try and get a pass interference?

How yeah, his record is 13-27 as the starting head coach in Buffalo.  Maybe I should have just started with that and copy and pasted it a few times. his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27. his record is 13-27 his record is 13-27.

That is far worse than Dick Jauron.  In addition, he is starting to sound more and more like Jauron.  He doesn't have answers, he sounds dejected and ready to give up (until the pay check is direct deposited).

He doesn't appear to be any type of leader, he doesn't appear to motivate or inspire anyone.  How about things that are quantifiable?  Half time adjustments.  Do the Bills ever come out of half time and take over the game?  Or even come out competently?  The Bills have been outscored in the second half 152-86.
The Bills have been outscored in the second half 152-86.
The Bills have been outscored in the second half 152-86.
The Bills have been outscored in the second half 152-86.
The Bills have been outscored in the second half 152-86.  In eight games. That is 19 points per game in the second half alone.  There are six teams that don't, on average, allow 19 points per game and the Bills do in the 2nd half!

Is there any objective measure to which Gailey is acceptable or even competent? Teams with interim coaches like the Colts and Saints (yes they have good QBs) are winning.  Doesn't that shoot down Bud Nix's argument that starting over with a new coach is kind of bunk?

He has no say in the defense which is half the game and apparently doesn't even care to have a say.  He refuses to consider firing Stachstedt.  He hates Cliff Spiller.  Well, hey, there are 4 more divisional games left and it isn't like the Bills are 2-13 vs the division under Chanwhick or anything right?

Time to dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Bills @ Texans Preview

by Steve

Other than backup running back, do the Bills have a better player at any position than the Houston Texans?  Yeah Matt Schaub isn't good, Gary Kubiak is a mediocrity and they got killed a few weeks ago by a decent at best Packers team, but they are still far superior to the Buffalo Bills.  That is how pathetic this franchise is right now.

Buffalo is a 10.5 point dawg coming off the bye (albeit Houston is too).  Coming off the bye with Chanwhick at the helm at OBD the Bills have actually played quite well.  Last year it was the Washington (in Toronto) beat down W.  The year before that it was the Baltimore L in overtime.  (Houston with Kubs is 2-4 after the bye fwiw)

I don't have one reason to believe the Bills have a chance to win this game let alone cover.  Is JJ Watt and co. overhyped at this point?  Yes, but the Bills defense is so abysmal Ryan Fitz-noodle-arm-Fitzpatrick would have to score 40 points for Buffalo to have a shot.  Other than the aforementioned GB game the most the Texans have surrendered is 25.

This is the third straight home game for Houston (haven't played on the road in a month) maybe they are all sick of hanging out with their wives/families and are due for an L.  Maybe anything can happen in the National Football League.  Maybe Houston is looking to next week when they play the Bears?

Eh, I tried.

Why is Dave Wannstedt still employed?

by Steve Janis

The bye week has passed for the Buffalo Bills and other than the range of motion of Mario Williams supposed injured wrist nothing has changed down at OBD.  After a disgraceful L at home to the lowly Tennessee Titans, after a 3-4 start and one of the worst defenses in NFL history through seven games, the Bills defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt is still gainfully employed. WTF?

Rushing Defense 32nd 176.9 yards allowed per game
Passing Defense 22nd 247.3 yards allowed per game
Team Defense 31st 424.1 yards allowed per game

This is the first year as d-coordinator for ol' Stachstedt taking over a team that has drafted defense in the first round back to back years and made a splash signing Mario Williams and Mark Anderson in free agency.  He is taking over a defense ranked 28th against the run, 19th in pass defense and 26th in team defense.

Ol' 'stache has some how (through 7 games) made the team worse in all three statistical categories from 2011 to '12.  How is that even possible?  Did even one person think that this team would drop in every single ranking on defense before the season started?

What are the reasons for not making a change? Continuity, another new defense making things worse, who would take over, because coaches don't like to fire other coaches.  Yadda Yadda.  Who gives a shit about continuity the guy has been in charge seven weeks and clearly demonstrates he is lost.  The guy behind him wouldn't change things all that much and clearly couldn't be worse.

As for coaches not liking to fire other coaches especially mid season (as some sort of BS unwritten rule) who cares?!  There is zero chance Dave Wannstedt will be hired again ever in the NFL and especially at defensive coordinator.

Just listen to Jason Cole from our sister station on WGR550 "Dave is probably one of the worst coaches I have ever seen who rose to that level.  There are a lot of bad position coaches that are not very good... Dave is just very unimaginative very uninspiring guy...  He has no ability to make guys play harder, very unimaginative, very uninspiring.. He has made more money from his associating with Jimmy Johnson than anyone should have"  He paints him as a joke and is just not capable of leading people.  Ouch.

The bye week would have been the best time to make a change.  The season is going down in flames and is only going to get worse.  Cue up Axle Rose cause it is timeeee to dieeeeeee.

Mario Williams is a Bust? STFU

by Steve

Did I really have to listen to WGR550 all fuckin day long arguing that Mario Williams is a bust and that basically it is the worst contract ever in the history of the world?  I am no Buffalo Bills apologist by any means but give me a break. 7 games 3.5 sacks, wrist surgery, some of the worst defense played in the history of the National Football League and it is all Williams fault and he is a bust?

Look, before the season I wasn't in love with M-Dubs and actually predicted Mark Anderson would have more sacks.  But I loved the signing even if there was no way he ever lived up to all the hype and expectations.  But if we're already willing to cut the guy or through him under the bus and label him a bust already what fucking hope do we have?

The guy certainly hasn't played well, he hasn't lived up to expectations and isn't even getting double teamed.  He hasn't handled the media all that well and comes off as a bit of a primadonna.  And to those saying his team mates resent him or he is a cancer in the locker room who gives a shit, that locker room has been a useless disaster for 12 years.  The guy just needs to be more of a leader and tell some of these alleged discontented players to STFU too.

Why wasn't he on the injury report? I don't know, is the surgery or "procedure" secretive (for now) yeah, but couldn't this supposedly phantom injury THAT NEEDED SURGERY be an actual excuse for why he hasn't played well? Now that he is the guy and the $100 million man isn't it plausible he could be understating the injury and feels a responsibility to his team/contract to play through it any way?

Jared Allen his first season on a new team, Minnesota, had a grand total of 5 sacks (1.5 more) and had a record offff 3-4.  Julius Peppers? 2 sacks in his first 7 games on Chicago (for a total of 8 in 16 games) albeit the Bears were 4-3 overall.  The other way?  Jason Babin last year, his first with Philly had 9 sacks in his first 7 games, damn.

Either way, seven games into a 96 game contract and the guy already is the worst, is the worst take I've heard since Ryan Fitzpatrick is actually a franchise quarterback.  The guy has sucked and the defense has been worse but I'm giving this guy at least 32 games and at least a few games where he is healthy before I slow down a school bus with his corpse.

Titans 35 Bills 34 F

by Steve

Jacksonville home opener '04, Pittsburgh season finale 04, Dallas MNF 07, Denver home opener 07, am I missing any? Maybe a lame San Francisco or Miami game that year too?  Add this one to the list of Ralph debacles over the past 8 or so years. FML.

Throwing across your body on 3rd and long late in the 4th up 6 for an interception? 4th and 9 and no one steps up? Reinventing Chris Johnson one pathetic run at a time? Refusing to go for two down by two points while you're running game is shredding Tennessee's defense?  Is Chanwhick Gailey's How to Lose a Football Game manual in paperback yet or is only out on the Kindle?

If I wasn't surprised or didn't see it coming I might have actually been upset walking out of the stadium after that debacle.  Who is still surprised at this point?  Even if they won (and gave us false hope for another 4-5 weeks) we all knew the verdict on this season before jury deliberation commenced.  This team sucks, this coach is a loser and this quarterback is not taking any team any where.

Yeah, sure, fire Dave Wannstedt (won't happen) going into the BYE and give us something else to talk about but it won't matter who is coaching this defense, they suck.  Albeit Stachstedt couldn't be doing any worse.  How is this run defense WORSE than last year?  Is there one player on this defense worth inviting back next year?

The season is over yet again before the calendar reads November and yet again this franchise proves from top down they are a joke.  The pits if you will.

Tennessee Titans @ Buffalo Bills

by Steve

Ouch, no podcast this week?  The Bills haven't beaten the Titans since the "revenge game" 9/3/00 after the illegal forward pass play in Tennessee the year before.  I have no idea how that exactly equates to the game Sunday but I just wanted to sound like I did research.

The Titans average the least number of rushing yards in the National Football League and the Bills allow the most rushing yards in the National Football League.  Something has to give and if I was a betting man I'd bet on Chris Johnson and the Titans racking up BIG yards. (Then again, if you subtract the fake punt and Kevin Kolb's rushing yards the Bills only gave up 92 yards last week.)

Yes, the Bills aren't good but since when is beating the Cardinals in Arizona not a good win?  They were 4-1, had won 8 straight in the desert and were favored by 5 points.  Maybe it's because we only remember Chanwick fuckin up on nearly every decision the last four minutes of the game.

Buffalo is only a 3.5 point favorite because the Titans got three extra days to prepare?  Because they luckily beat a down Pittsburgh team a week ago in prime time in their barn?  I'm not impressed by Munchak and co. I just don't get it.  On the road this team has lost by an average of 25 points.

Are the Bills supposed to be scared of a 37 year old back up in Matt Hasselbeck?  Or their 28th ranked defense?  Their grand total of four interceptions?

What is the reason to not pick a blow out at the Ralph Sunday?

A day later, Bills in first?!

by Steve

I'm not going to refute all of Coast's negativity after he just came out of retirement to write that rambling diatribe because he was mostly right.  No, I don't want Chan Gailey fired I want him never hired in the first place but it's too late for that.

But hey, the Buffalo Bills are in first place after 6 weeks!  The Bills couldn't even say that last year when many thought they might actually maybe were good.  Granted, they're 0-2 in the division and haven't even beaten the Dolphins in three years.  And yes the quarterback is one of the worst in the league, they don't utilize their best player nearly enough and the defense always gets shredded by the other teams best player.

Yet, a majority of the team's remaining games are at home (6/10 [assuming you consider Toronto home])), Chanwick and co. have doubled their away victories from a season ago and Mario Williams finally showed up for a game.

A few other thoughts on the Arizona (near) debacle.  I agreed with the punt on 4th and 10 from the Cardinals 35 in overtime.  If Rian Lindell makes that kick (at beast 50/50) AZ still gets the ball back.  Yes, the backup QB was in there but didn't he just get them down the field for consecutive field goal tries? And if they scored a touchdown they'd win.  And I don't want to hear advanced NFL statistics winning %, how many over time games have their been with the new format where a field goal on the first possession doesn't auto win the game?  I trusted the defense more than the idiot kicker.

If Lindell misses Skelton and co. have all the momentum and need maybe 25 yards to have a chance at winning the game outright. The three straight pass plays made little to no sense and even less sense than the wildcat call.  That play was indeed horrible but the execution was worse.  Shouldn't they have told Brad Smith (one of their four quarterbacks and three kickers on the roster fwiw) to NOT throw the god damn ball if Don Jones wasn't open?  That again falls on Gailey and Wreck's boy Curt Modkins as failed coaching.

The Bills opening line against backup Matt Hasselbeck and the Tennessee Titans is -3 with the money heavy on the Bills (-125).  All ya gotta do is enough to win and get to the BYE guaranteeing to remain (tied) in first place for at least another week.  The Jets play @ the Patriots and Miami is on the bye.

Oh and we resigned Shawne Merriman? wo0t, o/u number of games he is active this season 1.5. Bang the under.

Bills 19 Cardinals 16, Fire Chan Gailey

-Coast

The Bills may have beaten the Arizona Cardinals today 19-16 in overtime, but I aboslutely feel sick about our coaching staff, especially Chan Gailey. I am officially done with Chan Gailey as the head coach of the Buffalo Bills and all this win does is delay the inevitable of what is going to turn out to be another below .500 season.

The Bills were winning 16-13 late in the 4th quarter, have the ball inside Arizona territory, driving by running the football down Arizona's throat. The first mistake was that the Bills went into the wildcat. There is a time for the wildcat, I guess, but this was not one of those times. Then, to have Brad Smith throw the football deep is just mind boggling. Of course the pass was intercepted and Arizona drove down and hit a 61 yard field goal to tie the game. If Feely hits the 38 yard field goal and the Bills would have lost, this call would have gone down in history as one of the worst calls in franchise history. Right up there with the Losman play action pass fumble against the Jets, the Travis Henry half back pass, the screen on 4th and goal to Fred Jackson in a blizzard versus Cleveland, etc. In all seriousness, this was an ALL TIME BAD play call. Gailey is lucky the Bills won because this call should have cost him his job, period.

Gailey kept the ineptitude going on the next Bills possession. After a sack on first down, the Bills made absolutely no attempt to get a first down while Arizona called timeout after timeout to get the football back with over a minute left. Gailey showed both no guts and also showed absolutely no confidence in his quarterback. I am not saying he should have confidence in his quarterback, but by not trying to get a first down and punting there, you are basically saying you don't want to win the football game. That was Jauronian.

Not to be overshadowed is how Gailey handles the running backs. I know this might not be a big deal to some, but CJ Spiller is the best player on our football team. He is a threat every time he touches the football. When he doesn't touch the ball, but is on the field, teams need to pay attention to him. He should be on the field every single play, unless he needs a breather, but he isn't. Look, Fred Jackson is a good player and a better guy and leader, but if you think that he is as productive as CJ Spiller right now, you are dreaming. Teams are not worried about Fred Jackson anymore. CJ Spiller needs to be the focal point of our offense. The numbers speak for themselves. 12 carries for 88 yards today. He made a huge play on our 2nd half touchdown drive. He is averaging 7.6 yards per carry on the season. 7.6 yards per carry. And, he played half the snaps. Joke. Not to trash talk Jackson, but he is averaging 2.6 yards per carry. He is two leg injuries away from the first half of 2011. Trade him to Green Bay while he has some value. Jackson 21 touches, Spiller 16. It just doesn't make any logical sense.

I know I am being ultra negative, but a win like this really does nothing to help my optimism. I think it would be hard to argue that the Bills are as good as Miami or the Jets, so I believe they are the 4th best team in the AFC East. This is the type of win that causes a team to have the 10th pick instead of 6th. I will say, Jairus Byrd made two great plays, Mario Williams looked alive and had two sacks, albeit against a horrible offensive line. That is all I can say about a defense that allowed 182 yards rushing to a team who was missing their first two running backs.

Here's to the Bills beating Tennessee, entering the bye at 4-3, only to lose 2 more to Miami, 1 to Houston, 1 to New England, 1 to Seattle and another bad loss in there to finish 7-9.

Bills starting to crack a bit?

@steviejohnson13 I know most of "yall" live vicariously thru me; so when I lose it makes your life 13x more miserable than it already is. Well... TOUGH SHIT!

I like it, dude is getting pissed and cracking back on his "fans". Ha

A Day Later, Really?!

by Steve

What is left to say after that game?  The Buffalo Bills do not play in the same league as the San Francisco 49ers or the New England Patriots.  Whether it is a form of college football or some sort of pseudo-pro league it doesn't really matter.  This team sucks and there isn't anything good about them.

Is it possible that Aaron Williams and Steph Gilmore are that bad?  It has to be a little bit coaching at least right?  How can this group of players be historically bad?  That isn't even hyperbolic, they are historically bad.

The question has to whether the team quit on Chan Gailey doesn't really matter.  If they didn't quit wouldn't that be worse?  Because that would mean they were trying and that is all they could muster. God damn.

The season isn't over and it is possible the Bills just played the two best teams in the league but clearly they aren't in the same league.  Beat Arizona and Tennessee and we won't really remember this games that much.  But obviously we can't count on any game as a win at this point.

One last thing, Bud Nix knows at this point Ryan Fitzpatrick is not the QB in 2013 right?  He knows Chan Gailey is a loser, correct?  Gailey will be going into the final year of his contract and we know how that played out with the last coach that went into his final year.  Kill me now.

Why the Bills can beat the 49ers

by Steve

Well, not win, but ya know, cover the 9.5.  The Buffalo Bills can stick with the San Francisco 49ers for multiple reasons albeit there are more than a couple reasons why they can't.  I'll be Mr. Brightside and ignore those for today though.

Alex Smith is not a very good quarterback. He does what he is asked to do, retain possession of the rock by limiting mistakes.  That is evidenced by his mediocre numbers (averaging 196 passing yards his last 20 games) except for interceptions, six in 20 games! Ryan Fitz-noodle-arm Fitzpatrick can do that in one game.  Still, the guy is no Tom Brady.

Before the 49ers got to play a team in complete meltdown mode (J-E-T-S) they were allowing an average of 22 points a game. Granted there are more points in the NFL these days but that doesn't sound elite to me.  Score 24 points and it is a guaranteed cover.

Yes, the 49ers are a great rushing team but the Bills have a pretty good run defense when they're actually in their base as opposed to the nickle that got shredded by the Patriots last week.  I may have rose colored glasses on here but last week was more of a fluke than anything.  Well, not a fluke in that the Patriots ALWAYS shred the Bills defense.  So the nearly 300 yards rushing was an aberration.  Look for the run defense to be much more effective tomorrow.

Some quick hits:
  • Spiller and Fred Jackson are healthier than last week
  • Mario Williams probably can't play any worse
  • Stevie Johnson is in his home town and will look to ball
  • It is the NFL so anything (except us making the playoffs) is possible
  •  The Bills last west coast victory came against this same franchise wayyy back in 2004.
  • The 49ers defense is only 6th against the run
  • SF could be overlooking the Bills with a HUGE rematch game against the NY Giants looming next week.
  • the Bills are do?

A Day later, Time to Blow it Up

by Steve

Were the Buffalo Bills really winning by 14 points in the third quarter Sunday against the New England Patriots? 45 points in the second half, the fourth most ever allowed? The Patriots were still in the shot gun up 14 with five minutes left gunning the ball into the endzone?  Where is the pride?

Is there something worse than a blood bath? When the fuck is Tom Brady going to retire?  From the owner on down to Bud Nix, Chanwick, Noodle-arm, the front four, the non-existent secondary, who is more to blame?  Clearly, it is time to blow it up yet again.

Depending on how the rest of this useless season plays out, Buddy Nix will probably still be back as the general manager.  At best, he retires and Doug Whaley takes the helm as GM leaving as little change as necessary possible.  Chanwick Gailey needs to be fired especially with the obvious, that this team needs a quarterback.

We don't need Gailey and his losing to corrupt whoever it is we're able to draft next April.  What's the odds a QB in the first round pans out?  After that, we'll have to only hope something can be salvaged from the $100 million man.  How is it possible that the Bills gave Mario "something in between Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay" Williams that much jack?  Clearly he isn't a winner and is either unmotivated or limited in skill.  The guy doesn't bring credibility or a ruthless pass rusher to this team.  Just another bust story.

Can this team still win 7 or 8 games?  Maybe, but since when was that the goal?  This team is no where near competing with the best teams in the league and doesn't appear to even be close to playoff contention.

Holy shit...

Week 4 Buffalo Bills Power Rankings Compilation

Here is a compilation of the various website NFL Power Rankings for the Buffalo Bills.  Their highest ranking is 15 by Yahoo and lowest is 20 by the AP.

ESPN 19 Previous 22:
Buffalo goes from one injured running back (C.J. Spiller) to one who is coming back from injury (Fred Jackson). (Hensley)

PFT 18 Previously20:
Not bad for a team that some thought would go winless after Week One.

CBS Sportsline 17 Previously 20:
At 2-1, they suddenly look like a potential playoff team. We will know for sure this week against the Patriots.

Yahoo 15 Previously 23:
It's difficult to figure out the Bills right now, but each week makes me more confident that they can contend in the AFC East. I wouldn't guess that the Bills feel too afraid of New England coming to town this week.

Fox Sports 14 Previously 23:
The Bills were absolutely rolling with CJ Spiller in the backfield, I'm not sure they can keep this tempo with Tashard Choice and with Fred Jackson at less than 100 percent. The more this offense relies of Ryan Fitzpatrick, the more vulnerable it becomes

Bills Throwbacks?

umm are we missing something?  These appear to be the exact same.  Then again with all the fake knockoffs that every single person wears, no one can tell WTF is a real jersey, fake, 2 years old, day old, 50 years old. oh well

A Day Later, Back from Cleveland

by Steve

The Bills won a "must win" game on the road that I attended (snapping my 7 game road L streak)?  Damn, who woulda thought.

The ticket cost $45, the trip took 3 hours and the tailgatingYI\48 (aside from having to pour your beer into cups) wasn't bad. Parking was $25 pretty close to the stadium near the rock n roll hall of fame.  And the lots were nearly full before 9am, so these fans at least know how to tailgate.

The crowd was relatively sparse and the upper decks were at least 35% Bills fans.  The only problem we had with fans was one lady getting up seemingly every play to go get something and some how she got pissed because we complained. "Respect the Browns season ticket holders"  OK lady it's called Midol.

The stadium was a bitch to get up to the upper level.  Instead of stairs it is just a long long winding slow slant upwards. BRUTE.

We still haven't learned a ton from the Bills.  The Cleveland Browns are a bad team with a loser head coach.  The front four owned the run defense is obviously much improved from previous years.

Sunday is gonna be nuts, bring your A game.

A Must win for the Buffalo Bills

by Steve

If this isn't a must win game for the Buffalo Bills it is about as close as it gets for a week 3 game.  We know, at least right now, the Cleveland Browns are not a good football team.  However, we pretty much have no clue what the Bills are after two games.

Chanwich, Fitz-noodle-arm and co got blasted by the Jets in week one on the road and destroyed the Chiefs at home the next week.  After the first game the team may have needed a players reward card to check out but bounced back against a far inferior team the next week.

Other than CJ Spiller being the (so far) break out star of the 2012 NFL season, do we know a damn thing about this team?  Okay, the team may be better against the run with a healthy Kyle Williams and an overpaid Mario Williams and the offensive line is solid.  That's it.

This game is a must win for a few reasons. The Browns consist of a rookie 29 year old QB who should be forced to make plays, a no name head coach, few if any play makers on defense oh and I'm attending the game which is always a colossal failure.

If the Bills drop this game, even with an allegedly easy schedule, will have a near-impossible time getting into the playoffs.  Furthermore, if they lose this game they clearly aren't ready to make a run at the playoffs.  The next few games into the bye do not look promising if Buffalo is 1-2 after Sunday (think 2-5)

Feeling surprisingly optimistic, I'm predicting an eight game road L streak snapping and the Bills winning comfortably but with the end always in doubt.

UB Embarrassed 23-7 to Kent State

by Steve

Jeff Quinn is a loser.  I don't care that Brandon Oliver got hurt in the first half.  You have in prime time home game on ESPNU where basically nothing besides baseball is on and you lay this egg?  One touchdown on a lucky touchdown on a hail mary at the end of the first half?  Holy shit.

I understand UB is not a real college football team and they are a joke but not in the MAC.  Christ, you don't even show up against a Kent St. team that didn't even finish above .500 last year and has no quarterback worth mentioning?

Who is University at Buffalo's starting quarterback any way?  Alex Zordich was benched because he couldn't complete lacing his spikes let alone his cleats not to mention a pass?  Local boy Joe Licata may have been worse. WTF?

If Khalil Mack wasn't on this team and sans an injured Bo-O this team is talentless.  Holy shit.  What was the game plan, lose?

This program didn't just take a step back tonight they fell into disrepair and obscurity.  This game was a 100% joke and if this blog doesn't care I guarantee no one in Buffalo will care until there is change.  Good luck against a couple Big East teams coming up when you can't even challenge a middling MAC team at home, who ever that new DA is, wake the fuck up.

Leaked 2013 Buffalo Bisons logo?

The Bisons yesterday announced a new partnership with the Toronto Blue Jays.  Some think this is supposed to be a boon for attendance, I don't buy it.  Since when is Toronto a model franchise?  When was their last playoff appearance, 1993?  I will grant anyone that the Mets were a colossal tirefire but this seems like a lateral movement.  Oh and leaked logo? :

A day later how good a win feels

by Steve

Could there have been a more boring game that the Buffalo Bills scored five touchdowns in including a punt return TD?  Did anything even happen in the second half besides the Kansas City Chiefs and their dumbass coach taking three time outs at the end of the game sans any chance of winning? Great first half but that last 2 minutes was torturous.

Clifford now averaging a decent 10.1 yards per carry, Fitzpatrick appears to be a solid game manager quarterback and Kyle Williams served me a crow sandwich. Wait, does anyone remember that first drive when Fitz-noodle-arm-Fitzpatrick was booed off the field because of one of the worst passes I've ever seen?  You're right that rock skipper never happened.

The odds are that the KC Chiefs are just really awful more so than the Bills have corrected all their woes from a week previous.  Romeo Crennel is a straight up bum, but thankfully the Bills did remind us at least a bit why some picked them to win ten games.  But, is Mario Williams the third or even fourth best player on the d-line?

Damn I love me some Scott Chandler.  The Bills haven't had a player look so unathletic and awkward yet make plays since Jay Riemersma.  I wouldn't mind someone better but Chandler is a solid tightend in the National Football League.

Other than that there just isn't anything to complain about except maybe the cost of water at football games.  Damn I was thirsty for something other than beer yesterday during the game. (Also the wait to get into the stadium with the new metal detectors was nearly non-existent.  I waited maybe three minutes total, albeit a few people may have been skipped in line, ha.)

The watercooler will be reporting live from Cleveland Sunday so look for us and step yo game up.  And give me a few more days to determine who I'm going to call out because it worked like a charm for K-Will and Marcell Dareus. (oh and did anyone else notice my boy Alex Carrington making plays too, told you.)

A day later, the sky really is falling

by Steve

Someone tell me the last 36 hours were a nightmare-esque coma that never really happened.  The Bills get thoroughly embarrassed in all aspects of the game, the quarterback has zero credibility or upside, the running back is out half the season, the slot receiver is done for the year, the coach is a bum and they're 0-1 in the division.  The Buffalo Bills are dead after one week.

Is it just me or does this seem to happen every other year or so.  I'm not sure who said it today but there is some upside, at least we as fans don't have to be fooled into thinking the team was good only to find out mid way through the season the Bills suck. (oh yeah it was Jim Rome n/m).  So there is an upside!

Yeah the Jets are obviously a lot better than most gave them credit for and it is only one game.  But can anyone still make the case that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a good quarterback?  A QB that can lead this team to 10+ wins and a wildcard let alone a friggen home playoff game?  Didn't think so.  Please put the playbook inside your pillow case every night for osmosis purposes Tar-var (my new nickname for him)

The season isn't over yet, but if the Bills don't bounce back in a big way and quickly (like back to back must win games) the season will be over before October.  Just look at the schedule after the Browns game, yikes.

First things first, promote Marcus Easley from the practice squad, scour the Earth for a running back better than Johnny White and someone get in Mario "cry baby" Williams face and tell him to STFU.  Next, tell Marcell Dareus to dress the next 15 weeks as opposed to whatever he did in week 1.  Finally, find out what happen to the safeties against the Jets because they were abysmal.

The line opened up at Bills -3 against the Chiefs and presumably Eric Berry is god damn pissed.

2012 NFL Preview: Total Wins all 32 teams

by Steve

The NFL shockingly starts Wedsneday so the previews are going to be coming fast and furious.  Based on betus.ag here are all 32 teams over/under total wins and what I foresee occurring:

Dallas Cowboys 8.5 wins (-165 over)
Under.  The over is a terrible pay out and the Cowboys seem infinitely more likely to go say 8-8 than 10-6

New York Giants 9.5 wins (+140)
Super Bowl hangover or the fact that this team never wins more than 9? Ehh, bang that over

Atlanta Falcons 9 wins (-130)
My conventional wisdom says the 'aints are back to being the 'aints, and the rest of the division isn't all that intimidating, over.

Buffalo Bills 7.5 (-250)
Taking under here means this team is only going to improve by one victory in 2012.  With that schedule not reaching eight wins is a colossal disappointment .

Chicago Bears 9 wins (-130)
Under, this team is old, Cutler is always iffy and Lovie Smith is meh

Cleveland Browns 5.5 wins (+150)
Rookie 80 year old QB, already banged up rookie RB, under.

Detroit Lions 9.5 wins (+150)
Under.  One year does not make a trend.

Houston Texans 10 wins (-200)
This division is so bad you gotta go over.  Double digit wins is almost a lock for a recently moribund franchise.

Indianapolis Colts 5.5 wins (+100)
Weak division, this squad could win six games, Cam Newton style.

Jacksonville Jaguars 5.5 wins (-105)
Mike Mularky?!?! UNDER UNDER UNDER

Kansas City Chiefs 8 wins (+115)
Matt Cassel scares me and not for a good reason.  How did Romeo get another head coaching gig? Under

Miami Dolphins 7 wins (+120)
They traded one of their best young defensive players and have an overrated rookie starting.  What did Matt Moore do besides have the name Matt Moore that everyone hates him? under

Minnesota Vikings 6 wins (-115)
Over.  Adrian Peterson ain't dead yet and Christian Ponder isn't a bust yet.

New England Patriots 12 wins (-115)
The Bills fan in me says they can't win 12+ games every year but the Bills fan in me says the Patriots will always win 12+ games. over.

New Orleans Saints 9.5 wins (-130)
UNDER UNDER UNDER coach matters, doesn't it?

New York Jets 8.5 wins (+140)
Why does this team have to be bad? Schedule is weak and they haven't really lost any one. Over

Philadelphia Eagles 10 wins (+110)
Trent Edwards is only a heart beat or two away from being their QB. under.

Pittsburgh Steelers 10 wins (-125)
Tough division but they still have another year with that soon to be rickety defense.

St Louis Rams 6 wins (-115)
Sleeper team, Sam Bradford might get it, eventually, so why not this year in a bad division? over

Tennessee Titans 7 wins (-165)
Another sleeper team that will crust this over.

Washington Redskins 6.5 wins (-125)
RGiii might be too small to be a great quarterback in this league if he'll be running it a lot.  Salary cap restrictions also don't help. under

Arizona Cardinals 6.5 wins (-115)
Skelton v Kolb was like Bush v Gore, either way they're fucked. under

Carolina Panthers 7.5 wins (-150)
Don't believe the hype. under

Green Bay Packers 12 wins (+150)
Don't like Aaron Rodgers and the defense isn't good. under

San Francisco 49ers 10 wins (+120)
I'll say over only because they're facing Skelton, Wilson and Bradford

Seattle Seahawks 7 wins (-250)
The under pays well, take the value. under

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6 wins (-145)
Only play here is the over, seven wins in the National Football League is not unattainable for any team. over

Denver Broncos 9 wins (-115)
That is a lot of neck surgeries in one year.  Do all of their fans realize Tebow is gone yet? under

Baltimore Ravens 10 wins (+150)
Time to diee. under

Cincinnati Bengals 8 wins (-105)
Solid drafting, good young QB, who knew. over

Oakland Raiders 7 wins (-125)
.500 still doesn't make that Carson Palmer deal worth it. over

San Diego Chargers 9 wins (+140)
Norvel is under .500 for his career but can he really torpedo another Phil Rivers season? over

Three Positions that could make or break the 2012 Bills

Three Positions That Could Make Or Break The Bills In 2012

Going into the season, the Buffalo Bills are getting quite a bit of attention as a potential playoff and even Super Bowl contender if things fall into place. By now, Bills’ fans are too smart to buy into all of the hype right away. After all, last season started out extremely promising, only to fizzle out at the end.

With a slew of offseason pickups and trades, the Bills do believe they have the team together that can help snap the 12-year playoff drought. If you are still one of those pessimistic Bills’ fans though, here are three items that could make or break the season.

Quarterback

Early last season, it seemed as though Ryan Fitzpatrick could do no wrong. He was signed to an long contract after a 5-2 start, and his results up to that point in the season were hard to argue with. Since then, he has come back down to earth a bit. Whether that was due to injuries, teams figuring him out or the lack of the right personnel remains to be seen.

The Bills can get to the playoffs with Fitzpatrick though. He is a good enough quarterback that makes smart decisions. Those expecting the next top tier quarterback though will be disappointed.

Linebackers

The defensive line for the Buffalo Bills is arguably one of the best in the NFL. Their linebackers are anything but. They are not terrible, but it is obvious that while the line and secondary was upgraded in the offseason, the linebackers were ignored. Kelvin Sheppard, Kirk Morrison, Nick Barnett and the rest of the linebacker group are not exactly striking the fear in defenses right now. They do not have to be great, but they can’t be a huge hole in an otherwise solid defense. Teams will exploit them like crazy if they do.

Inside/Outside Running Game

The issue with the running game is more about staying healthy than anything. Fred Jackson was a solid running back last season until he went down with a broken leg. Big things are still expected out of CJ Spiller as well despite his rough rookie campaign. If the two can become a strong inside-outside duo (Jackson inside, Spiller outside), the Bills could be a very dangerous team with multiple weapons on offense.

Buffalo Bills final cuts

by Steve

(for now)  Tyler Thigpen remains on the roster (although I doubt he is there come 9/9 since the Bills would have to pay him his entire $2.5 mil).  Tim Graham tweeted this "Team source: Bills keep 5 WRs, counting Brad Smith. Gone: Hagan, Martin, Roosevelt, Aiken, Easley."

Huh?  Yeah Easley and Kumar Aiken might be hidden on the practice squad, but what kind of wide receiver corps includes and injured Brad Smith as #5?  That asshole should be cut, what does he provide to the Bills? Well, besides fumbling kickoffs and/or failing to even reach the twenty yard line.

Not to mention local boy Naaman Roosevelt being axed (he isn't p.s. eligible).  Who would have thought there would be four quarterbacks on the roster and they all suck?

Tank Carder I assume will be on the practice squad but I thought it was undersized from the beginning.  Dorin Dickerson is an interesting player who appears to be safe for now but please change your number bro.

Bills @ Lions Preseason Finale preview

by Steve

Finally! The preseason will mercifully end for the Buffalo Bills when they visit the Detroit Lions tonight at 7pm.  Is it just me or has this preseason been seemingly longer and more excruciating than normal?

The Bills have to get down to 53 players by 9pm tomorrow and there aren't even very many compelling battles to watch tonight.  What, Terrence McGee either going on the PUP or being out right cut is causing Bills nation to hold their breath?  Whether Ty Thigpen will be released tonight or tomorrow morning?  If Zebrie Sanders will be stowed away on the practice squad?

Maybe it is the tight race between Dorin Dickerson and Kevin Brock for spot 53!  Or if there will be three kickers on the roster come 9/9. Johnny White or Tashard (my boy) Choice?

I'd say watch for what Tarvaris does but how many plays can this guy even know being on the roster a total of 3 days?  If Thigpen is kept on the 53 man come week one, according to the Buffalo News, he is owed the entire $2.5 mil on his 'tract.  Hopefully Brad Smith (cut him) can still air it out because if Fitz gets hurt against the Jets that's who will be next in line.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Kirk Morrison gets cut along with McGee tomorrow. (Schwarts don't get cute and put Calvin Johnson in the game tonight, I drafted him #8 in my ffb league)
