Obligatory Sabres post

Everyone knows about the well documented and abundantly evident fall of the Sabres since July 1st 2007. Chris and Danny packed their bags for MUCH greener pasture while the Sabres were sent out to pas.. the slaughter house. Two conclusions could have been drawn from the fiery and utter collapse of a franchise. First they would lose season ticket holders and second they would make drastic changes perhaps overhaul the entire team top to bottom, especially with two consecutive seasons of non playoff hockey (five of seven to be exact). Problem is as the past few days have shown, NEITHER IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

First you had Quinny going on the air last week basically saying the Sabres are going to zilch in the way of changes. He blames the player not the coach, but the problem isn't the specific players or their skill set, it is the simple fact that they are fully committed to Lindy's "successful" system (my words not his). He also doesn't believe the Sabres are too small. Both of those statements are incorrect. The players suck, they are too small, not talented enough and have no backbone to be successful in the playoffs. There is no one I wouldn't trade.

The second story was that 94% of season ticket holders have re-upped their seasons. I don't know if it is blind allegiance, a plethora of die hard Sabres fans (that didn't exist four years ago right after the lock out) or something else, but that is some what shocking. Is the economy in Buffalo better than the prognosticators of economics are leading us all to believe? More likely than not it is just a bunch of idiots from Amherst with daughters who love Pommers think Lindy is a great coach and Millsie is better than Roy circa 1993.


One last thing. Damn can Buffalo sports teams market them selves (save for the Bisons who love mascots and only mascots). I mean really. These teams are perennial losers and pack the building on a daily basis. To bad they aren't as skilled managers as they are marketers.
