T.O. getting a key to the city of Buffalo

by Steve

Are we serious?????

At the time of this posting... a crowd has gathered at Buffalo-Niagara International Airport awaiting the arrival of Terrell Owens.

As it turns out, it's been quite a wait indeed. Owens was origially due in at 6:15, then 9:15, and after a day of delays and missed flights, we're told by a VH1 representative that he'll be touching down just after 11:30pm.

A crowd has gathered at the airport... fans with faces painted... just to catch a glimpse of Owens as he arrives.

VH1 has the cameras ready to shoot a portion of Owens reality show.

Tomorrow afternoon Mayor Byron Brown will present him with a key to the City of Buffalo.

Notice we haven't even talked football yet?

That's right... the fanfare surrounds simply the start of the Bills voluntary workouts. Owens says he'll be there when they hit the field for the first time Monday morning at 10:30.

There are a handful of stars in sports that command the attention of Owens, and we're still four months away from when the games start for real.

Bills receiver Roscoe Parrish says he welcomes Owens with open arms.

"Heard a lot about TO, heard he is one of the hardest working guys in the NFL, he's a future hall of fame, I'm still young and I can learn a lot from him and take it from there.''

Running back Fred Jackson says Owens should instantly make the Bills offense better.

"Nobody is more happy than I am about TO being here, it's going to take a lot of pressure off the running game, safeties are not going to be able to stand in the box like they were last year, to combine him with Lee is going to do some tremendous things for our offense.''

That process starts Monday with the first of 11 volunatry [sic] team workouts. The Bills mandatory mini-camp is set for June 9-11.

We're giving him a key to the city? There are people waiting for him at the airport? People have their faces painted at the air port? Damn..
