Sure it was a great "event" it showcased the Ralph, the city and the great fans we all knew we had but in the end the Sabres and Buffalo lost, seemingly as per usual. I know I know the outcome wasn't that important it was only 1 of 82 games, it was ment to show case that horse toothed douche bag Sidney Crosby, but can't a Buffalo sports team just win once?
I honestly think the event was a bit fixed to tell you the truth. C'mon ,the story book ending with Crosby scoring the winning goal as the third shooter in a shoot out? Strategically wouldn't you think your best player would shoot first or second guaranteeing him a shot in the shoot out? And what were the odds of this game going to over time and then to a shoot out, 80% 95%? Where was Vanek in the shoot out or in the game for that matter?!
The Sabres had one 40+ second power play the entire regulation, the Penguins at one point got at least 3 power plays in a row. The Sabres were shooting in the OT but it didn't really seem like they were trying to score. It was as if Bettman and the NHL gave Buffalo their one shining moment, but in the end cared more about the next big thing allegedly Sid the douche.
It snowed a bit too much, so the game was slow and choppy, not to mention all the long delays to fix the ice, WTF. The first period lasted nearly 90 minutes. And stopping the game in the third and OT..., it wasn't even windy, grow a sack NHL players. All the delays and stoppages didn't allow for any flow to the game. PLUS there were fucking terrible towels! There is no city I hate more than Pittsburgh from their fans to their sports team to the colors to those stupid piss stained pieces of cloth they waive around like assholes.Which reminds me, Sidney Crosby is an over rated piece of garbage. He has never won a playoff series, and will never score 92 goals in a season. He certainly won't win as many cups as Wayne not even half as many. He is not Gretzky and if you're gonna say "well its different eras" then don't say shit about him being the fastest to 200 points isn't that the same thing?
Look I had fun at this "once and a life time event" it was great to see all the fans and the festivities and the fact that it was in our back yard. Furthermore it was great to see the Ralph rocking in January but anyone that says they would rather have this than a home football playoff game is crazy.
Anyone who would rather have this than a January home football game is worse than crazy, they are straight up retarded and should be institutionalized or shot. The game wasn't even exciting. Nearly 4 hours? Give me a break. The NHL failed miserably in their attempt to sell the game to the casual sports fan. There was no need for stoppages every 10 minutes and ice fixing and all that non sense. These guys allegedly played pond hockey when they were kids. Were there zambonis entering the pond midway through the game? Was there some asshole with an ice pick fixing little holes that I could guarantee would have no effect on the game. Could the NHL make it anymore obvious that the game was fixed? How can a team that is paying someone 50 million dollars not have him in the game in the shoot out. Vanek is our big time player, at least financially, and when the game is on the line he is sitting in the heated benches. Give me a break. The fans showed up and were great I am sure but in the end the Sabres lost and the NFL failed in my opinion. Ralph Wilson Stadium should never again be used for anything other than a Bills home football game ever again, especially in January. Yeah, it has been a while, but don't let this lame ass hockey game take away from how incredible a stage it is when it does happen. I would have rather watched this hockey game at One Seymour Knox Plaza or whatever at HSBC Arena.

The funny thing is down here we could give a shit whether you like us or not...your not even a rival to us nor on our radar for that matter in hockey/football, you guys ran around at our field at the steelers home opener thinking we were a bunch of rookies/less dedicated fans than you...thing is we were playing the bills...so a W was expected... like I said you guys hate us, but we could give a shit about you. So to save yourselves some time hate the teams that are on your level--bottom feeders-- start talking shit once you finally win championships other than in lacrosse.
2. who honestly puts AFL champs and AFC champions on their stadium? Why have the constant reminder that you haven't won shit in a long time and when it comes to the super bowl era you are the team of biggest disappointment-- to go 4 straight times and come away with shirts that say 1st loser.
3. if terrile towels are queer, then the stand up and shout song deserves to be in such a category--very original--you don't sing it much cause the bills dont score--it should be sang for Brian Moorman.
4. No reason to bash Sid, he's a great hockey player, respect talent don't bash it, Vanek is a great player just didn't show up, so you guys are typical of already kicking him to the curb.

ReplyDeleteI'm still alive. Yes, the NHL failed. Who the hell wants to watch a regular season game last for four hours? It was a bad way to market the game to non-hockey traditionalists, constant delays and switching ends during the periods? The NHL wants to show the game, the game of speed, hitting, and skill. I saw some hitting but no speed and players like Crosby using their skill was at a minimum.

Sidney Crosby is not over-rated. Anyone that watches more than one of his games, knows the answer. If you watched the first two minutes of Ice Toilet, you would have saw Crosby hit the puck in mid air to himself, split the d, and try to make a play.
If Crosby played in the 80's, he would have been as dominate or even more dominate than Wayne.
The only forwards better than Crosby? Vinny in TB and Heater in Sens Nation. Crosby leads the league in helpers, he'll be all the time leader in that category before he retires.
