Brad Riter Fired!

by Steve

I am shocked and kind of outraged at this point, the absolute worst sports radio station of all time(unless you're a Sabres fan) and monopolizer of sports talk radio in Buffalo WGR550 has fired Brad Riter.

This is the worst thing that crappy station has done since breaking up the spectacular combination of Brad Riter and Jeremy White on the 7-10 slot at night. Reportedly he was fired because, after being warned, he either showed up late or didn't show up at all for a morning edition of his show.

This means the end of Lamar the super computer, knee jerk reactions, and the only positive voice the Buffalo Bills had on the "sabres all the time" network.

I have yet to hear Riter's side of the story, but if he just plainly didn't show up its tough to argue with the firing, or maybe WGR is severely under estimating his popularity on the station. They couldn't have just suspended him?

I guess I can just add this to the myriad of reasons why I hate WGR550 and hope to god every day of my life that another sports station starts back up in the Buffalo market. Quite frankly it is embarrassing.

SOMEBODY HIRE BRAD RITER

UPDATE
I emailed Jeremy White, Brad Riter's "friend" at WGR here was the exchange:
me :
"Whats the deal with Brad Riter? Did he want to get fired, is he definitely done with the station? He gonna stay in the area? This whole situation is very strange"

White : "
It stinks. I think he was ready to move on."

  1. They fired the only credible sports talk guy on their staff. I was listening to the Lee Evans show a few nights ago and wondering why the hell Brad Riter wasn't on with him.
On my way home from work today, I was stuck listening to Schopp and the Bulldog discuss if it was okay to be a Bills fan and not watch the game on Sunday in anticipation of nice weather and a blowout. I wanted to kill myself.

  2. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the fact that he's essentially been working the "swing shift" and as sick and tired of it.

  3. Sabres are with WGR, the Bills are not. No wonder it's a pro Sabres station

  4. Wow, the only credible sports talk guy...!!
That's not saying much if you listen to the "talent" on WGR...If there's a worse Sportstalk channel in the country, my sympathies go to those people that listen...
The lack of sports knowledge by these stiffs is like no station I've ever listened to..The morning duo is brutal--Hockey, hockey, hockey, Bills , Bills , Bills..
The afternoon guy (Schopp ) has said he doesn't like basketball(??) so he doesn't bother with it...
Again hockey and the Bills all day long...Awful.
Baseball?? forget it...Right now Pennant races , Wild card, etc...Any talk about it?? None!Nothing! Zero!
College sports? less than baseball if you can go less than nothing...

  5. Didn't the Bulldog deliver pizza up and till four years ago? Listening WGR, you don't know what year it is. It's the same bullshit. Bash the Bills, Talk up the Sabres. The bashing started when "the coach" Chuckie D was let go by the Bills and got worse when the Bills went to 97 rock. GR talks up Sabres as if they won the stanley cup every year. The Sabres are poorly run organization, pay poorly, treat their employees poorly and that includes the players. GR gives guys like Mike "Clueless" Gilbert air time to promote the Sabres, he is more clueless than the hosts. The only time I've heard UB sports mentioned is in a negative light or by Howard Simon. Baseball? Buffalo doesn't even know the sport exists if you listen to GR. They talk about who should be voted out of hall of fame rather than the chases going on. Howard Simon is decent, he means well, he stuck it out with 107. Boy, I miss 107

  6. Andrew mentioned "The Sabres are poorly run organization, pay poorly, treat their employees poorly and that includes the players." You could say the same thing about the Bills, as long as you include that they also "treat the fans poorly"

  8. I usually do not comment, however after reading a few of the comments here "Brad Riter Fired!".
I actually do have a couple of questions for you if you do not
mind. Is it just me or do some of the remarks look as if
they are written by brain dead visitors? :-P And, if you are posting
on other sites, I'd like to follow everything fresh you have to post. Would you list of every one of all your public pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
