Losmaniacs suck

by Steve

Alright, enough is enough, I can't take it any more. Losmaniacs or JP Losman die hard fans are running a muck. They're voting on web polls, calling radio stations, blogging on this website, writing to newspapers, amortizing themselves at 1 Bills drive I can't take it!

I'm not here to necessarily bash the dude, but he has started something like 27 games he lost the first 2 this season, he lost his last 2 last season and finished with a 7-9 record. In 2005 he started 9 games and went something like 3-6.

He is no savior, he throws the ball down field when it seems a receiver is breaking away, but the likely hood it is a completion is very low, much below 50%. He can't complete short passes, 20 yard outs outside the numbers and at a "tall" 6'2 he is undersized at the position.

For his career all you "stat" assholes, he has thrown 28 touchdowns while throwing 24 interceptions. His contract is up after 2008 and no quarterback goes into the final year of his contract with out a new deal. He isn't playing any where near the value of $11 million per season ala Tony Homo and has played himself out of the starting role.

Sure, in a perfect world he would have stayed healthy and played all of 2007, however it isn't, he got hurt and lost 2 games pretty much embarrassingly. Does he seem to make the offense more exciting? Probably. Does he throw a nice deep ball? Some of the time. Does he take bad sacks, fail numerously to move the chains, and misses receivers in stride preventing bigger plays? Absolutely.

JP Losman is what he is, a less accurate, less football intelligent version of Brett Favre. He'll get people off their asses and standing up, but he'll get people booing and throwing shit on the field at the same time. I've seen him play mediocre for long enough, he hasn't proven he can win games!

This is not a glaring boner fest for Trent "tReD" Edwards, but Losman at this point, doesn't appear to give the Buffalo Bills any more of a chance to win football games than a rookie 3rd rounder out of a non-football school. Doesn't that say enough about Losman's progression as a starting quarterback in the National Football League?

Don't get me wrong, I want Losman to thrive. I love what he was trying to do for the city of Buffalo. When I saw Evans strip the ball away from Rivas I yelled "He's got it ! Touchdown!" Then I thought, why were the Bills throwing a deep ball in that situation? That ball was under thrown. The fact is the Bills in this parody driven NFL can win boring close games without a gun slinger. They can win with an efficient game controlling quarterback who hopefully will be able to mature into a better QB that can make plays when he needs to. Edwards probably isn't ready for the big time, but he is winning ball games and certainly keeping the Bills in games. I still say stick with Losman this week if tReD is hurt but unless Losman goes for 350 yards and 3 TDs and shows a miraculous turnaround Trent gets the start when he is healthy.

Fuck QB controversies

  1. i check this blog pretty much everyday looking for updates and usually enjoy what i read, but this is the worst article i've seen posted by you in a while. i'll try to go down the line and point out what i don't agree with.

first off, these 'losmaniacs' as you call them are not even half as bad as all these people calling for his head. that look blindly at trent edwards and say he's better based upon a couple games the defense won when the o didn't do anything.

how good were those teams losman was starting on in those 27 games? what were the expectations coming into last year, because if i remember correctly, we were 7-7 fighting for a playoff spot and lost a game that we put up 29 points, where robert royal stepped out of bounds, where t-hen and vince young ran all over us, and we decide not to kick a fg at the end of the game. then we go into and play the dominate baltimore d from last year (not the jv version trent saw) and lost a meaningless game that we fought hard in.

he started off this year 0-2 against denver, in a game our playcalling and clock management cost us. He did more against a better D, than trent has done in 2 of his 3 starts by actually leading the offense on a touchdown drive. The Pittsburgh game, in their home opener 25 teams in the league lose.

28 tds and 24 ints is a better ratio than 1td and 5ints

we lost on monday night because our offense couldn't do shit. i would seriously ask you to tell me that we would have lost that game with JP at QB, because I don't think you can.

i don't know where oyu get this 'much less than 50 percent' stat about his deep ball, i read on the bills message board some stat yesterday that said him and evans have completed 64% of their deep balls the last two years. that sounds a lot better. even looking at the stats this eyar, JP's numbers are better across the board than trent's, minus the record (JP gets the loss for his one drive against NE, and Trent gets the win for his embarassing offensive output against NYJ, that JP won for him)

all i know right now is JP gives us the best chance to beat cinci this week. I go to school 30 minutes outside of cinci and watch all the bengals games, and we will beat them with a strong running game, threat of a vertical passing game, and then hitting 3rd down completions to reed and parish over tehe middle. losman gives us the best chance to do, because honestly, i don't think teams are capable of being afraid of Trent Edwards at this point in his career.

also, one more note. right now, if trent goes back in and jp sits the rest of the year, what is his trade value? a 5th round, 6th round? pick What if JP comes in and gets us to 8-8, maybe that turns into a late 2nd or 3rd...who knows...This franchise has decided that Trent Edwards is their future, much like the Browns have with Brady Quinn. I don't see calls to take out Derek Anderson. Because the guy wins. JP wins every game that Edwards did, and probably Dallas too.

I'm not against Trent Edwards, I'm against the idea that Edwards is the only option and that JP sucks. Edwards is a rookie. A ROOKIE. Why do Evans, Whitner, Crowell, Reed, all support JP? Because they know he can make plays. What would you rather have, a 10 minute drive resulting in a fg, or the chance for a 2 minute drive with a deep td? I'm sure the D likes to see points a lot more than the rest they'd get.

I feel like I started rambling, but JP is our best chance to win. What happened to John Clayton coming to Buffalo during camp and raving about this offense? The first two games were against a great pass D, and a great overall D. It wasn't the Jets (twice), the ravens (hurt and overrated) and cowboys (3 points with field position the whole game, home crowd, first MNF in 13 years) You aren't going to hurt Edwards by having him sit and learn.

Heres to JP throwing 3tds and getting us back to .500 this week.
