Buffalo Billss 0-8

by Steve

It is almost a good thing the Buffalo Bills are dreadful this season. If these games actually meant something the heartbreak of these close L's would be tough to swallow. In typical bend but don't break then blow it at the end fashion, the Bills lost a close game in Toronto against the Bears 22-19. Quick hits:

  • Ryan Lindell, great time to have your first extra point not sail through the uprights, cost the Bills the game.
  • Aren't punters a dime a dozen? Brian Moorman has outlived his usefulness
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick is smart
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick is a mediocrity.
  • The Bills should have challenged both touchdown catches by the Bears. Both were close calls with the ball possibly hitting the turf and one foot near the white.
  • What is the rule with injuries inside two minutes, I thought it was a penalty.
  • CJ Spiller needs more touches.
  • How hard is it to run a screen pass?
  • Chris Kelsay is an albatross.
  • Donde esta Shawn Nelson?
  • Stevie Johnson is a legit WR in the National Football League.
  • Chan Gailey is a stop gap coach who should be very closely scrutinized the rest of the season to prove he is worth coming back next season.
  • It was nice to see Ralph at the game, he didn't look too bad at all.
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick is smart.
  • The one challenge Gailey actually requested was one of the worst challenges in the history of the Bills, on par with the Peerless Price heels/two time outs debacle.
  • The offensive line can pass block.
  • #61 is Mansfield Wrotto, never heard of him, he was getting a lot of time at RT. Of course he is from G Tech, he was signed on the practice squad 10/1 from Seattle.
  • The offensive line can not run block.
  • Oh, and allegedly Ryan Fitzpatrick is smart.
  • See you at the Ralph Sunday after a month hiatus.

  1. Who cost us more: Lindell's missed PAT or Fitzpatrick's 2 INT? Tough to win when you turn the ball over three times...

  2. Fitzpatrick is a backup. He's going to have good # at the end of the year. Is it me or does he throw his worst passes in crunch time? Can't go 0-16 and keep your job, right?

  3. I blame three things.
    1. The missed XP...that was the difference in the football game.
    2. The Gailey challenge. That was the worst challenge in league history. How nice would it have been to have that 40 seconds left at the end of the game? Maybe we wouldn't have had to try and force a ball into triple coverage to Donald Jones?
    3. The punt that defied physics that pinned us at the 1 yard line. I mean, that was headed straight out of bounds at the 20, somehow bounced dead left almost and was pinned at the 1. Name another NFL team that happens to.

    More thoughts:

Brian Moorman is 26th in the NFL in punting. He is horrible and has been for like three years. He cost us a tie in the Chefs game for God sake. Get rid of him and re-sign Chris Mohr.

Fred Jackson is washed up. At least we got rid of Lynch. I thought Jackson was a great receiver...12 catches for 28 yards this season. He is on pace for 626 yards rushing and 56 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. The line sucks but he looks slow...let's see how Spiller can handle 20 carries.

Lee Evans makes $9M a year and is our third best receiver? I am sick of this idiot not doing anything. Cut him after the season. Steve Johnson is having a better year than Lee Evans ever had (on pace for 1,108 yards, 12 touchdowns). Stevey number 1, David Nelson number 2, Roscoe Parrish number 3...Andrew Luck tossing them the rock in 2011, I love it.

Opposing quarterbacks have 17 touchdowns and 1 interception this season against the Bills. That seems impossible, but apparently it is true. Our secondary has 0 interceptions through 8 games. How does George Edwards still have a job? One sack on Cutler? He leads the league easily with 28 sacks this season. We sacked him once. I know I have said this 400 times but Chris Kelsay and Donte Whitner need to be cut yesterday. This is a joke. Seriously, how many players on our defense would make rosters on other NFL teams? Maybe a few, but how many would start? ZERO? Do we have a single starting caliber NFL player on our defense?

Do we even have a tight end? The only time I noticed a tight end was when number 80 (Martin maybe? I don't even know what a joke) completely missed a block on Peppers who lit someone up in the backfield. Shaun Nelson is pretty much not on the roster. The Bills should give Keith McKellar a call. He is only 46. He probably has some good years left.

Hey, at least we aren't the Cowboys.
